Direct Support Professional (Days and Evening)

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, aging, and health conditions such as dementia or autism. Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare professionals.
  • Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary plans, ensuring safety and cleanliness in the kitchen area.
  • Administer medications following prescribed care plans while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations for privacy and confidentiality.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and community participation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment through regular cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Document care activities accurately in resident records, including progress notes, incident reports, and updates to individualized care plans.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care.
  • Certifications such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are required or can be obtained upon hire.
  • Experience with specialized care for individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and assist residents with mobility challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required for certain roles involving community outings or home visits.
