Overview
Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing safe, respectful, and person-centered support to people served by the organization. This role ensures the health,well-being, and independence of the people supported while promoting meaning full community involvement and daily life skills development.
Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks aligned with dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties within the residence or community setting.
- Engage residents in social activities, community outings, and recreational programs to promote socialization and independence.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies; participate in team meetings to update care plans.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), autism support, and hospice or end-of-life care is preferred.
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA training, and medication administration are a plus; willingness to obtain necessary certifications upon hire is required.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks associated with patient monitoring and mobility assistance.
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate approach toward working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or dementia enhances your ability to provide tailored support.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- Valid driver’s license (not provisional) with clean driving record and at least 2.5
- years of driving experience
- Must have at least 1 year of caregiving experience.
- Must be able to transport people supported as needed.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
