Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at promoting independence and enhancing the daily living experiences of those in your care.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Support clients in community integration and social activities, fostering independence and personal growth.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, including medication administration as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Engage in patient observation to identify changes in behavior or health status.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfers when necessary.
- Document client progress and any incidents according to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to provide comprehensive support.
Requirements
- Previous experience in group homes, assisted living, or home health care is preferred.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices including dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and working with individuals with autism or other disabilities.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
