Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Personal Assistant – Schenectady, NY [RH]

I am a 49-year-old woman with special needs seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for a Self-Directed Community Habilitation position. Unlike agency-managed group homes, I direct my own services. This offers you a consistent, 1-on-1 work environment where you can truly focus on mentorship and life coaching.

Position Details:

Role: Community Habilitation (ComHab) Worker
Pay: $26.75/hour, paid through a Fiscal Intermediary
Schedule: Part-time position. Days usually needed are Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. There may also be an option for a Sunday morning shift, generally between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., if available.
Environment: 1-on-1 support. I manage my own ADLs and hygiene. No hands-on personal care required.

The Role:

I am looking for a supportive partner to assist me in navigating life’s challenges. As my ComHab support, you will help me maintain my independence and participate more fully in the community.

Responsibilities may include:

Life Coaching: Assist with coping skills, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Household Management: Support with budgeting, meal prep, and organization to promote independent living.
Community Integration: Provide transportation to work and social events using your own vehicle.

Requirements:

Experience with OPWDD, Self-Direction, or Community Habilitation is a plus, but I am willing to train the right person.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required.
