Direct Support Worker

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
• Administer medications following prescribed protocols and maintain accurate medication records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
• Monitor vital signs and observe changes in health status, reporting any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals
• Support resident employing behavior management techniques to ensure safety and comfort
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with feeding as needed
• Engage residents in social activities and recreational programs to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and shared spaces

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and health & safety protocols including first aid and certification
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• Ability to perform personal care tasks with compassion while respecting residents’ dignity and preferences
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers
• Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation and record keeping
• Valid driver’s license for community outings or transportation needs when required

Pay: From $10.50 per hour
