Job Summary:
This South Region position is accountable for professional nursing practice in the ambulatory setting with a focus on the provision of advanced practice nursing, evidence-based practice, quality, safety, and innovation. Responsible for assessing needs for, planning, implementing and evaluating evidenced based professional nursing standards of practice and performance. Contributes to achieving exceptional patient outcomes that are sensitive to nursing care and to achieving value in care delivery systems in which nurses practice. Accountable for advancing innovations in nursing practice and assuring nurses work at top of licensure in the delivery of patient care in the ambulatory environment. Interfaces with nurses, physicians and advanced practice providers from all settings and specialties. Interfaces, collaborates and partners with leaders at all levels from nursing, educational services, administration, medical staff, quality/safety, clinical informatics and other departments including the Medical College Physicians.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
10 years of nursing experience is required. Must include 2 years in an ambulatory setting. 2 years of formal nursing leadership experience preferred. Formal experience in leading evidence based practice implementation and program development is preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
Master's Degree in nursing (MSN) required. Doctoral Degree in nursing (PhD or Doctor of Nursing Practice) is preferred. Prefer educational preparation to have included an academic program in an advanced practice role of a clinical nurse specialist.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Expert level knowledge and understanding of evidence-based nursing practice, Magnet Recognition Program requirements and regulatory requirements for nursing practice. Knowledge, skill and ability to lead and direct nursing research processes and projects. Knowledge, skills and ability to lead and conduct performance improvement including us of various performance improvement methods and approaches (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, DMAIC). Knowledge, skills and ability to lead change and transform culture through a variety of approaches that includes aligning, persuasion, thought leadership, motivating, inspiring and building consensus. Knowledge, skills and ability to achieve results and reliability in nursing services. Knowledge and understanding of changes in health care delivery, financing and ability to integrate that information into the creation of innovative, value-added models of nursing care. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate to all levels in the organization. Skill in data analysis and problem solving. Skills and ability to mentor, coach, and develop a high performing team. Ability to work, be comfortable and achieve results in a highly matrixed environment. Ability to establish relationships and partnerships across all levels, disciplines and practice specialties. Ability to translate vision and strategy into executed actions. Ability to present data and translate complex issues into comprehensive ideas and actions. Ability to work independently and interdependently, take initiative and makes sound independent judgments. Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). Requires APNP licensure. Prefer national certification as a Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist.
