POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Clinical Integration is responsible for leading the clinical integration strategy and execution for all AMSURG acquisitions, de novos, mergers, divestitures and enterprise-wide clinical alignment initiatives. This role ensures clinical quality, patient safety, compliance, and operational readiness are fully integrated into new centers and aligned with AMSURG’s standards across all service lines, including gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, and multispecialty ASC environments.

This Director, Clinical Integration serves as the primary clinical lead for integration projects, driving due diligence, clinical onboarding, day-one readiness, and clinical risk identification; this individual will lead cross-functional coordination, including aligning with operations, business development, IT, and revenue cycle teams. The role requires strong clinical ASC expertise, exceptional project leadership and communication skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization without direct authority.

The Director of Clinical Integration operates as an individual contributor while serving as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to senior leaders, center teams, physician partners, and internal integration stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Clinical Integration Execution

  • Lead clinical workstreams for all acquisitions, de novos and mergers, ensuring alignment with AMSURG’s clinical policies and standards, regulatory requirements, and patient safety expectations.
  • Oversee clinical due diligence, identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities related to quality, compliance, infection prevention, credentialing, and clinical operations.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive clinical integration plans, including readiness assessments, day-one workflows, post-close optimization, and long-term alignment milestones.
  • Establish clinical KPIs to evaluate integration success and ensure alignment with enterprise clinical and operational objectives.
  • Create clinical onboarding processes, tools, documents, and checklists to support consistent integration outcomes across all service lines.

Enterprise Collaboration & Leadership Support

  • Serve as the lead clinical liaison to all other cross-functional teams throughout the integration lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership-level presentations, updates, and risk assessments to senior stakeholders.
  • Consolidate and analyze clinical data to support integration decisions.
  • Coordinate with physician partners and center leaders to ensure clinical workflows, policies, and practices meet AMSURG standards. Clinical Quality, Patient Safety, Compliance & Readiness Ensure consistent, comprehensive application of AMSURG clinical standards across newly acquired or developed centers.
  • Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to accreditation requirements (AAAHC, The Joint Commission) and CMS Conditions for Coverage.
  • Lead evaluations for documentation practices, infection prevention protocols, medication management, equipment readiness, and safety programs.
  • Identify clinical risks and lead mitigation strategies to improve patient safety and operational readiness.

Change Management, Culture & Onboarding

  • Guide center’s clinical teams through organizational change, supporting cultural alignment, clinical workflow adoption, and competency standardization.
  • Support onboarding of clinical leaders, ensuring clinical directors, nursing staff, and key personnel understand AMSURG expectations and resources.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care across integrated centers.

Process Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop standardized integration tools and maintain enterprise-wide clinical integration documentation.
  • Contribute to the creation of a knowledge management system capturing lessons learned, best practices, and integration benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with Clinical and Operations teams to identify opportunities for technology solutions, automation, and predictive analytics.
  • Identifies opportunities to initiate operational changes and policy modifications within Clinical

External & Physician Partner Engagement

    • Represent AMSURG clinically in discussions with physician groups, ASC leaders, and other external partners.
    • Build trusted relationships with new center teams through transparent communication, collaboration, and expert guidance during integration.
    • Ensure clinical integration reflects both AMSURG enterprise standards and local clinical practice needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Deep clinical expertise in ambulatory surgery operations, patient care workflows, regulatory standards, and accreditation.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives without direct authority.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence, persuade, and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, with comfort interpreting clinical and operational data to drive decisions.
  • Ability to navigate high‑stakes environments, manage competing priorities, and maintain focus on quality and patient safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and support clinical teams through periods of transition.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of clinical leadership experience in an ASC, perioperative, or related healthcare setting.
  • Experience in clinical integration, acquisitions, de novos, or clinical operations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMS, accreditation standards (AAAHC, TJC), and state regulatory requirements.
  • Project management certification (PMP, CAPM, or similar) preferred but not required.

Paid Time Off:
