Bully Pulpit International is an outcomes agency made up of strategists, data scientists, and artists. We come from politics, brands, and government and we communicate without barriers and measure what matters. We have more than 350 team members in six countries and thirteen offices — Berlin, Brussels, Chicago, D.C., London, Los Angeles, New York, Oslo, San Francisco, and Zürich. We apply our unique expertise across strategic communications, public affairs, research, and digital marketing to create sophisticated and customized strategies that make change possible for both American and European clients.

  • Salary range: $125,000 - $165,000
  • Location: Expectation to work from DC, New York, Chicago, SF or LA offices at least 3 days a week

The Impact You Will Make

In this role, you’ll oversee analytics and data science work across some of our biggest clients and help develop new data-driven solutions to power more effective campaigns across advertising and strategic communications.

You’ll lead targeting and measurement work across the entire lifecycle of campaigns, managing the work from our data science team and serving as a strategic counselor to both internal teams and our clients. You’ll use audience data to define the right audiences for media campaigns to target, integrate findings from message research into our analytics approach, use survey data from our Vantage product to understand what works to persuade people in those campaigns, and work with Decibel, our competitive tracking product, to help our clients understand what their peers and competitors are doing and saying.

You’ll also lead projects that bring new capabilities or advance existing capabilities using analytics like predictive analytics and modeling. You’ll evaluate new data sources, map them to business problems, and use them to find new ways to power our work across advertising and strategic communications. Alongside that work, you’ll help set the pace for our team on using LLMs and other AI tools to help us work smarter and faster.

What the Day-to-Day Looks Like

  • Manage and oversee targeting, measurement, and competitive intelligence work across multiple clients, overseeing the team members executing the work and driving a clear, actionable perspective on how to improve campaigns
  • Act as a strategic partner to our clients and internal teams, synthesizing data from our work and other sources to set, measure, and optimize campaign strategy and translating complex methodologies and insights into digestible client-ready deliverables
  • Lead projects that use machine learning / predictive modeling and other analytics tools to improve our product offering, working with our Labs team
  • Evaluate new data sources and tools and work with our Labs team to implement them to improve our work
  • Experiment with new tools like generative AI to responsibly improve the depth and efficiency of our current workflows and identify opportunities to improve them
  • Partner with other internal teams to make our work more actionable and interpretable

Requirements

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of analytics and data science experience. Experience with corporate public affairs or political campaigns strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise using R or Python to analyze datasets and present them in memos / decks and using SQL to analyze data at scale in data warehouses like Snowflake. You have strong opinions about how to write an effective analysis script because you’ve written a lot of them to solve business problems and you can teach others to work at that level.
  • Experience with paid media or strategic communications campaigns. You’ve seen communications work up close and you have a perspective on what good campaigns look like in the 2026 media environment.
  • A keen eye for detail and visual polish to build client-facing decks and memos that translate complicated data and analytics for non-technical clients and other stakeholders
  • Expertise leading projects that use statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and/or causal inference. You can find the right statistical or analytical tool for the job at hand, work through the data with that approach, and then explain the results in client-facing language.
  • Proficiency in explaining and translating analytics results for non-technical audiences to help improve their day-to-day work and optimize campaigns
  • Intellectually curious with a strong sense of data intuition and critical thinking. You think in first principles and are able to spot discrepancies in a data set from a mile away.
  • A product-focused mindset. After you’ve done a task for the first time, you can articulate a plan to scale and systematize it across a team and you’re excited to work with other teams to lay out the blueprint for systems that scale.
