The Director of Facilities and Construction is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and management of facilities and construction across the FBO network, ensuring that capital projects and facility maintenance programs are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with business goals and customer expectations. This role will partner closely with local leaders, vendors, and senior leadership to deliver projects that enhance safety, efficiency, and the customer experience while maintaining consistent standards across all of Modern’s locations.

Construction & Capital Projects:

Own end‑to‑end capital project governance across the network, including project initiation, design development, bidding, construction, close‑out, and post‑completion evaluation, including hangar builds, FBO terminal renovations, ramp repairs, and other infrastructure upgrades

Establish and enforce capital approval frameworks, cost controls, change‑order management, and risk escalation protocols
- Project management, including RFPs to general contractors and assisting leaders in site identification and cost estimates to determine feasibility
- Track and report project performance against approved scope, schedule, budget, and return‑on‑investment expectations

Liaise with third-party advisors engaged to assist with construction and capital projects

Serve as the primary liaison with airport authorities, FAA, and regulatory agencies for facilities and construction initiatives
- Coordinate project approvals, permits, and entitlements, including FAA airspace reviews, environmental requirements, and secure‑area construction constraints
- Ensure all projects are executed in compliance with lease obligations, airport rules, and active airside operational requirements
Facility Management:

Own and continuously improve network‑wide facilities design standards, maintenance playbooks, and asset lifecycle strategies for terminals, hangars, ramps, and support infrastructure
- Standardize specifications, finishes, layouts, and repair protocols to ensure brand consistency, safety, and cost efficiency across all locations
- Develop long‑term capital replacement and refurbishment plans aligned with operational priorities and growth objectives

Direct facility maintenance programs, including preventive maintenance, capital repairs, and lifecycle management

Standardize repair protocols, vendor management, and maintenance scheduling across multiple sites

Ensure compliance with FAA, OSHA, EPA, ADA, and other regulatory requirements

Provide oversight of critical aviation infrastructure, including fuel farms, fire suppression systems, airside utilities, and high‑risk assets, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle integrity
Operational Leadership & Support:

Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness

Implement and manage project controls, reporting dashboards, and standardized tools to provide real‑time visibility into capital spend, schedule performance, and portfolio risk
- Prepare clear, executive‑level updates for senior leadership on project status, budget forecasts, risks, and mitigation strategies

Provide operational support to facility and station leaders to ensure consistency and service excellence

Serve as a Company liaison with vendors, airport authorities, and other stakeholders on construction and facilities-related matters

Act as a safety and risk leader for all facilities and construction activities, with authority to pause work, escalate issues, and enforce compliance in active and secure airport environments

Supervise and develop team members, promoting accountability and continuous improvement

7–10 years in construction and facilities, preferably in aviation or a related field

A valid driver’s license and clear driving record

Strong background in preventive maintenance programs, project management, and vendor/contractor oversight

Experience leading teams and implementing consistent practices across multiple sites

Skilled in budget management and identifying cost-saving opportunities

Operational leadership in executing projects and programs with a strong focus on detail and safety

Understanding of how to be a collaborative partner who builds effective relationships with local leaders, vendors, and stakeholders

Results-driven approach focusing on delivering projects and programs that meet operational and financial goals

Integrity and accountability, maintaining the highest standards of compliance, safety, and professionalism

Modern Aviation’s Pay Range –
$124,000 - $148,000 + bonus + benefits.
The Modern Aviation pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or other laws.
