Director Finance TCH-SNF-Sacaton

Position Summary: Plans and directs accounting activities within this facility by performing the following duties p e rsonally and through limited subordinate staff members. Responsible for e nsuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.


Critical Tasks:

  • Ensures proper operating, accounting and and/or finance activities according to enterprise policies and generally accepted accounting principles within accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll and reception.
  • Oversees and implements budget and capital plan revisions as necessary.
  • Takes all steps necessary to ensure expense control and healthy financial performance of the enterprise.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports and presents those documents and data to various individuals and audiences.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Plays an integral role during all operating and capital budget development and performance/compliance activities while taking all steps necessary to ensure enterprise compliance with all budgets.
  • Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses.
  • Directs and participates in cost analyses in pursuit of continually improving financial efficiency.
  • Oversees all audit activities, both internal and external while taking all steps necessary to ensure clean audit results in subject areas such as Medicare, Workers Compensation, financial results, and CMS financial audits.
  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Prepares and submits tobacco tax reports and grant applications on a frequent basis.
  • Completes and submits all regulatory reporting forms with full accuracy and on a timely basis.
  • Completes and submits payroll data as required for Short Term Disability, Affordable Care Act, insurance and reinsurance purposes.
  • Completes and submits on a fully accurate and timely basis all taxation, Arizona Department of Revenue, IRS, and Arizona Department of Employment Security data as required.
  • Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and internal financial reporting.
  • Reviews financial statements with management and executive team members.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls as requested.
  • Takes all steps necessary to ensure that data entry errors do not occur by any employees responsible for data entry.
  • Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting; Master’s preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant in the State of Arizona required.
  • 5 years of Accounting experience at a Manager or Executive level; with at least 2 years within a healthcare enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
