Director (General) - Human Resources

The Director (General) - Human Resources will be accountable for improving student achievement with special attention on English Learners and Special Education student through the effective management of an assigned area; direct, plan, and manage a Division or major functional area within a Department; undertake necessary activities relating to fiscal management, control and analysis of area under supervision in support of educating students at a high level; develop, control and monitor the budgets and accounts of the District to ensure the financial viability of the District; supervise, provide clear work direction and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

The Human Resources Director will report to the Deputy Executive under our Legal and Compliance team. This critical leadership role is designed for someone who can navigate the intersection of department and school site operations and legal requirements. This role ensures our schools remain safe, equitable, and legally sound environments for students, staff, and families by overseeing all formal investigative processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of investigations for high-level matters, including Title IX (harassment/discrimination), civil rights violations, and sensitive personnel issues.
  • Partner with Principals and District Leadership to provide real-time guidance on handling sensitive site-based conflicts before they escalate.
  • Direct the internal investigation process for formal parent complaints, ensuring timely, impartial, and well-documented resolutions that adhere to district policy.
  • Ensure all school-site activities comply with state and federal education laws, including IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA.
  • Develop and deliver professional development for administrators on investigative best practices, due process, and reporting requirements.

License/Credential or Skills
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or related experience in area of specialty and five years increasingly responsible supervisory and/or management experience.
Valid California driver's license; valid California Administrative Services Credential and/or Teacher's Credential may be required based on assignments and/or area(s) of responsibility.
