Overview

A global organization is seeking a Director, HRIS to lead the strategy, design, optimization, and governance of its Workday ecosystem and all connected HR technology. This role oversees Workday across the U.S. and international locations, including close partnership with Mexico, to build a unified global HRIS operating model.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Workday expert with strong leadership experience, deep HR technology knowledge, and the ability to drive enterprise-wide process standardization, automation, and innovation.

What You’ll DoHR Technology Strategy

  • Own the global HR technology strategy with Workday as the core HCM platform.
  • Build and manage a multi-year HRIS roadmap.
  • Identify improvements that increase efficiency, automation, and user experience.
  • Lead business cases and approvals for new HR tech capabilities.

Workday Leadership

  • Serve as Workday product owner across all modules (HCM, Talent, Benefits, Compensation, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, etc.).
  • Oversee configuration, testing, releases, and new functionality.
  • Standardize HR processes globally while supporting local compliance.
  • Manage Workday security, role-based access, and system controls.

HR Systems, Integrations & Data Governance

  • Oversee the full HR systems architecture with Workday as the system of record.
  • Partner with IT to manage integrations with payroll, finance, benefits, and time systems.
  • Establish global data governance, data standards, and quality controls.
  • Support identity management, cybersecurity, and incident response processes.

Global HR Partnership

  • Collaborate with HR, Compensation, Benefits, Talent, HRBPs, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and IT.
  • Lead alignment between U.S. and Mexico HR teams on processes and configurations.
  • Translate business needs into scalable system solutions.

Project & Program Management

  • Lead Workday implementations, enhancements, and major HR tech projects.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, resources, testing, and go-live activities.
  • Oversee change management, communications, and user training.

Team Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing HRIS team of Workday analysts and project managers.
  • Create a culture of customer service, innovation, and accountability.
  • Set performance goals and provide coaching and development.

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, SOWs, and service levels.
  • Oversee the HR technology budget and ensure cost optimization.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure systems meet U.S. and global compliance requirements (data privacy, labor laws, audits).
  • Maintain strong internal controls for system access and change management.

Analytics & Self-Service

  • Lead HR reporting and analytics strategy.
  • Enhance self-service tools for employees, managers, and HR teams.
  • Build dashboards and data insights to drive decision-making.

What We’re Looking ForEducation

  • Bachelor’s degree required (HR, Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or related).
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years in HR technology, HRIS, or HR Operations.
  • 7+ years of deep Workday experience with hands-on configuration.
  • 5+ years leading HRIS teams in global or matrixed environments.
  • Experience with HR/payroll/timekeeping integrations.
  • Global process alignment experience; LATAM/Mexico experience preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Workday configuration, security, and integrations.
  • Understanding of HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
  • Experience with APIs, EIBs, web services, and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project methodologies.

Preferred Certifications

  • Workday Pro or module-specific certifications.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification.
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.30 - $160,914.35 per year
