Summary: The Director of Human Resources will play a critical role in driving operational excellence by aligning HR strategies with business objectives and collaborating with property teams and corporate functions. The Director partners closely with business leaders to deliver scalable and creative HR solutions that drive efficiency, support employee performance, and enhance the overall employee experience.
This role will lead key initiatives focused on improving processes and providing consistent support throughout the employee experience. As a Director and mentor, this position helps build a culture of accountability, growth, and high performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned:
- Build strong partnerships with business leaders by aligning HR initiatives with strategic goals, practicing proactive HR management, and responding quickly to time-sensitive business needs to drive team effectiveness and strengthen company culture.
- Implement and maintain performance management practices that reflect the company's values, set clear expectations, and promote accountability throughout the organization.
- Support the development of restaurant teams (i.e., culinary, food & beverage, bar, front-of-house, back-of-house, and facilities) in delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Provide knowledgeable, interactive, and prompt counsel on complex employee relations issues, conflict resolution, organizational design/structure, and critical employee lifecycle moments to support a productive and sustainable high-performing workplace culture.
- Provide expert counsel on complex employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and organizational matters, ensuring timely escalation, thorough investigation, and effective resolution to mitigate risk and support a sustainable high-performing workplace culture.
- Collaborate with HR team to drive efficiency in HR processes, proactively identifying and implementing improvements that enhance the employee experience.
- Partner with HR team in compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, communications, engagement, and learning & development to deliver seamless support across all phases of the employee lifecycle for designated business divisions.
- Leverage HR data and analytics to guide decision-making and support performance and workforce planning.
- Maintain deep knowledge of employment laws and company policies to ensure compliance and consistency across all business areas.
- Mentor and coach HR team to build talent, encourage accountability, and promote continuous learning and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Facilitate organizational change management as needed and help leaders to align communication, behavior, and infrastructure to support the desired changes.
- Mitigate risk by ensuring appropriate escalation/investigation of performance, conduct, and other employee relations-related matters.
- Flexible availability to accommodate business needs, which may include night, weekends, and holidays.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not directly supervise.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
- 10+ years of progressive human resources experience in a director or similar leadership role.
- 5+ years of experience in the restaurant, hospitality, or retail industries supporting operations-based roles.
- Proficient in leveraging data, metrics, and workforce trends to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience in working with all levels of teams, including the C-Suite.
- Deep knowledge of HR disciplines, including performance management, labor relations, employee relations, talent development, compensation, compliance, and change management.
- Experience leading projects and helping to foster/create a positive working environment.
- Experience in successfully managing multiple priorities & and projects through successful delivery and implementation under time, budget, and political pressure.
- Proven success in working in a fast-paced business environment.
- Strong ability to lead, motivate, and empower subordinate employees in an inclusive environment; creates a culture of recognition, trust, and accountability.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) communication skills preferred, with the ability to effectively engage employees and leaders across diverse teams.
