Position Summary

Dark Horse Consulting Group is seeking an experienced, strategic, and creative Director, Marketing and Communications to contribute to the development, and lead the execution of our marketing and communications strategy, enhancing our brand visibility, thought leadership, and client engagement across a global audience.

You will serve as the steward of the Dark Horse brand, working closely with the SVP, Business Development and other members of the Business Development Team, senior leadership, and subject matter experts to communicate our expertise, promote client successes, and drive demand for our services.

This is a remote position offering flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape the voice of a high-impact firm in one of the most exciting areas of biotech.

Key Responsibilities

à Marketing Strategy & Leadership

  • Contribute to the development, and execute the global marketing and communications strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure brand awareness, lead generation, and campaign ROI.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Business Development, Consulting teams, and Executive Leadership to ensure effective delivery and alignment with corporate objectives and strategy.

à Brand & Messaging

  • Maintain and evolve the Dark Horse brand identity across digital and print platforms.
  • Create and execute consistent, compelling messaging that reflects our values, scientific depth, and client impact.
  • As appropriate, oversee or support the production of marketing collateral, case studies, pitch decks, and proposals.

à Digital Marketing & Web

  • Lead strategy and content development for the Dark Horse Group website(s) and social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, etc.).
  • Manage SEO/SEM, analytics, and UX improvements to enhance engagement and conversion.
  • Oversee external vendors and agencies supporting digital execution.

à Thought Leadership & Content Creation

  • Collaborate with internal experts to develop whitepapers, blogs, webinars, and conference presentations.
  • Manage editorial calendar and coordinate content development across channels.
  • Support speaking engagements and PR opportunities that showcase Dark Horse Group’s expertise.

à Client & Industry Engagement

  • Develop campaigns targeting existing and prospective clients in the CGT and broader biopharma sectors.
  • Own conference planning, booth strategy, and event marketing (in-person and virtual).
  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends and client needs to inform messaging and positioning.

Qualifications

à Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, life sciences, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing and communications roles within life sciences, biotech, or healthcare consulting.
  • Demonstrated success leading brand and content strategy in a B2B environment.
  • Familiarity with technical/scientific language and ability to translate it for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience managing websites, digital tools (e.g., HubSpot, WordPress, Google Analytics), and social media platforms.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead multiple initiatives with precision and creativity.

à Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience in the cell and gene therapy or advanced therapeutics industry.
  • Experience working in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Comfortable in a remote-first, collaborative workplace with a culture of accountability.
