Director of Advancement

Ministry Overview
Christian Aid Mission seeks to establish a witness for Christ in every nation by assisting indigenous ministries who are sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in some of the world’s most difficult mission fields, giving priority to ministries making disciples among unreached people groups. Today, we work with hundreds of indigenous ministries in eight regions of the world.
Position Overview
Christian Aid Mission seeks a Director of Advancement that is a mission-driven leader responsible for designing, leading and executing CAM’s fundraising strategies to sustain and advance the mission. This position will implement comprehensive strategies in line with goals to secure the necessary resources, with a particular emphasis on major gifts and mid-level giving. A key area of responsibility will be collaborating closely with the President/CEO and Major Gift Officers to strengthen existing portfolios and identify, cultivate, and solicit new major donors, ensuring sustainable growth and deepened donor engagement.
The Director of Advancement should have a deep understanding of CAM’s mission and in-depth knowledge of faith-based philanthropy. The position manages the Advancement team, oversees the Advancement budget, and utilizes the CRM and other tools to ensure a moves management process to move donors though the pipeline from acquisition to long term invested major donors. This position works collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and the International Ministry Team to ensure fundraising materials and digital content resonate with the donor base.
This position reports to the President/CEO, is a member of the Leadership Team, and leads the Advancement Team. This full-time position has flexibility to be in person or remote depending on geographical location. The salary range is $115,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Fundraising Leadership
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive annual fundraising plan with specific financial goals.
    • Set ambitious but achievable revenue goals in alignment with organizational priorities and growth targets.
    • Supervise and mentor the Advancement Team, providing coaching, support, and accountability to ensure best practices in prospecting, relationship-building, and solicitation, with a keen awareness of faith-based philanthropy in line with CAM’s distinctives.
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture for the Advancement team.
  • Major Gifts Program
    • Lead the major gifts strategy, working directly with Major Gift Officers and President/CEO to strengthen current portfolios, and drive the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high-net-worth donors.
    • Personally manage a major gifts portfolio focusing on donors with capacity to make transformative gifts.
    • Oversee identifying, researching, and qualifying new major donor prospects, and provide donors with education on planned giving opportunities.
  • Donor Relations, Engagement, Stewardship, and Community Outreach
    • Evaluate and improve plans and methods of communications to foster and maintain long-term relationships with donors through regular communication, personalized stewardship, and meaningful recognition.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders on engaging donors and connecting their philanthropic interests with Christian Aid Mission’s giving opportunities.
    • Establish a moves management process to move donors through the pipeline from identification to long-term invested donors.
    • Work cross-functionally with marketing to ensure integration of fundraising efforts and organizational messaging.
    • Develop relationships with church congregations, affiliated ministries, and community partners.
  • Data Management & Reporting
    • Oversee the utilization of the donor management software (CRM) to ensure accurate and timely tracking and receipting of donations, donor interactions and proposals.
    • Analyze fundraising data and prepare regular reports for the President/CEO, Leadership Team, and the Board of Directors (as requested), recommending adjustments to strategies as needed.
  • Fundraising Events & Campaigns
    • Oversee the planning and execution of major fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring they advance major donor relationships and organizational visibility.
    • Support the design and implementation of targeted donor cultivation events to expand the major gifts pipeline.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated spiritual maturity and a growing relationship with the Lord, serving as a positive example of Christian character, faith, and servant leadership.
  • A passion for CAM’s mission and agreement with vision, distinctives, and statement of faith.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and team management skills, with experience coaching and developing fundraising professionals.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and measurable results.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrates effective working relationships with other team members and departments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to inspire, engage, and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in donor management databases and CRM systems
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Commitment to Christian Aid Mission’s values and ability to articulate the organization’s mission with passion and integrity.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office
  • Advanced proficiency in donor data management (CRM) software. Donor Direct experience a plus.
Experience
Minimum 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience, with at least 3 years in major gifts or equivalent leadership roles in nonprofit development, meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; Preference for Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications or a related field. Advanced degree a plus.
CFRE certification preferred but not required.
Travel
Travel as needed based on portfolio plans and in line with budget. Demonstrates resilience and adaptability in travel-intensive environments, including managing changing schedules, time zones, and extended periods away from home.
