Hirschler is seeking an experienced Director of Attorney Professional Development to lead firm-wide initiatives that attract, develop, and retain exceptional legal talent. This flexible part-time role is ideal for someone who understands the demands of legal practice and is passionate about helping attorneys reach their full potential.

Working closely with firm leadership and key committees, the Director will design and deliver programs that strengthen attorney skills, promote engagement, and support the firm’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead attorney development strategy – Design and implement programs that support career growth, leadership development, and client service excellence.
  • Shape training and learning programs – Create and manage professional development offerings that address evolving legal, business, and client needs.
  • Support attorney success – Counsel attorneys on goal-setting, performance feedback, and long-term career planning.
  • Enhance integration and mentoring – Strengthen onboarding, mentoring, and supervision frameworks to ensure a positive and consistent attorney experience.
  • Collaborate across the firm – Partner with the Recruiting, Associate Advancement, and Diversity & Inclusion Committees to align development initiatives with firm culture and strategy.
  • Measure impact – Track participation and outcomes, manage CLE compliance, and provide meaningful data to firm leadership.

Qualifications

  • J.D. preferred, with at least 5 years of practice experience or comparable experience in attorney development or legal talent management.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable programs.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities.
  • Collaborative approach with the discretion to manage sensitive information.
  • Ability to work effectively across offices; occasional travel required.
