Monday - Friday

8:00 am EST - 4:30 pm EST

Director of Accounting Operations Key Responsibilities and Success Metrics

Key Responsibility #1: Lead the Team on Consistent Delivery of Our 5-Star Client Experience Across All Accounts

Own the systems, standards, and accountability that ensure every client receives a proactive, human-centered experience.

Success Metrics:

  • 100% of clients receive financials on the agreed weekly or monthly cadence
  • 95% of monthly client meetings documented in ClickUp with at least one recorded "aha" insight or strategic takeaway
  • 100% of clients receive at least one documented personal check-in per month logged in ClickUp
  • 100% of clients receive responses to inquiries within 24-48 hours

Key Responsibility #2: Lead, Develop, and Balance the Accounting Team

Manage capacity, performance, and morale across the accounting team to ensure sustainability, equity, and excellence.

Success Metrics:

  • No lead accountant carries a revenue or workload variance greater than ~10-15% compared to peers at the same level
  • 100% of identified capacity issues are addressed within 2 weeks without client disruption


Key Responsibility #3: Drive Team Performance Through Coaching and Profitability Oversight

Design and run training, coaching, and performance systems that build confident, consultative accountants and protect firm profitability.

Success Metrics:

  • 100% of Monday sessions executed weekly with documented agendas and training outcomes
  • 90% or more of a lead accountant's book of business stays within targeted goal times monthly
  • 100% completion rate for weekly check-ins with team


Key Responsibility #4: Own Systems and SOPs

Streamline, document, and optimize internal systems so the firm runs smoothly without reliance on the CEO.

Success Metric: 100% of accounting, client service, and internal workflows are documented, updated, and centralized.


Key Responsibility #5: Act as Operational Owner for the Business

Serve as the CEO's operational proxy, freeing them to focus on growth and business development.


Success Metrics:

  • CEO involvement reduced to <15% of weekly operational decisions
  • 70% of referral and inbound inquiries handled end-to-end by Director
  • Onboarding of new hires completed and their assignment of accounts completed within 2 monthly accounting cycles.
