Director of Case Management

The Case Management Director provides strategic and operational leadership for length of stay management, utilization review, and discharge planning in an acute care hospital. This role requires strong clinical judgment, payer and regulatory expertise, and physician-facing credibility to ensure appropriate level of care and timely progression of patients through the continuum. The Director leverages real-time throughput and LOS data, partners closely with medical staff and nursing leaders, and drives accountability and standard work to reduce avoidable days while ensuring safe, patient-centered discharges and regulatory compliance.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Current Alabama RN license required, along with BLS and ACLS certifications.

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in case management within an Acute Care hospital setting required, with a strong understanding of inpatient care coordination, utilization review, and discharge planning; leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of utilization review, discharge planning, and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Certification in Case Management (CCM or ACM) preferred.

  • Must be able to be on call; flexibility is required.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional standards.
