Position Summary:
The Director of Civil Engineering is responsible for overseeing all aspects of foundation and civil construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and on-site execution. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage foundation and civil construction projects from start to finish
- Oversee site preparation, excavation, concrete placement, piling, and foundation work
- Develop project schedules, allocate resources, and coordinate labor, materials, and equipment
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and field crews to ensure quality and productivity
- Review and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and change orders
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies
- Conduct site inspections, quality control, and progress reporting
- Identify and resolve construction and operational issues proactively
- Serve as the main point of contact between clients, engineers, subcontractors, and field staff
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing foundation, civil, or heavy construction projects
- Strong knowledge of foundation techniques including concrete, piling, caissons, and grading
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications
- Experience with project scheduling, budgeting, and resource management
- Valid driver’s license
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Knowledge of safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Strong team-building and mentoring skills
