Director of Communications

Overview:

This position is responsible for the development and administration of a comprehensive communications program with all stakeholders for Apalachee Center, Inc., including the public, media outlets, elected officials, and partners. This includes rapid media response in crisis situations, publishing media advisories, and maintaining the social media presence of Apalachee Center, Inc.

ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively presents Apalachee Center’s story to the press, stakeholders and public.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of effective comprehensive communications strategies, plans and/or materials for Apalachee Center initiatives.
  • Maintains positive working relationship with external parties to increase public awareness of and support for Apalachee Center’s services.
  • Accountable for the effective management of Public Relations and the internal and external communications/advertising/marketing functions of Apalachee Center.
  • Maintain an internal communications program including a calendar of events, development of brochures, and timely response to requests made via the Communications ticketing system.
  • Responsible for photography and videography of ACI events as well as the maintenance and development of ACI logos, colors, styles and graphics library.

Education/Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism, communications or another related field.
  • A minimum of three years of directly related experience in marketing and communications/public relations and strategic planning preferred. Background in health care representation is a plus.

Licensure or Certification:

  • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license
  • Maintain authorization as an approved Center vehicle driver.
