Friends Home in Kennett, a senior living community in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Community Life Director (40 hours/week) to work weekdays and occasional weekends and evenings. Responsibilities:
· Oversees the activities and recreation program meeting the appropriate needs of the residents at all levels of ability, including individual, small, and large group participation utilizing Montessori methods
· Completes activities-related MDS documentation for all residents in skilled nursing
· Manages all Community Life staff, including scheduling, disciplinary actions, training and oversight.
· Responsible for ensuring that community van is maintained, cleaned and inspected and that drivers and accompanying staff are scheduled
· Approves and oversees payroll and paid time off for Community Life staff
· Ensures that Facilities van is kept current on inspection, registration and maintenance
· Develops and implements health,wellness, cultural and recreational activities and programs based on resident needs and interests, with a focus on each resident’s learning style (hands-on, auditory, visual) and utilizing Montessori methods for our skilled nursing facility, traditional Personal Care, and dementia unit
· Responsible for tracking all expenses, staying within allotted budget, and presenting a quality program.
· Records attendance, level of participation, and response of residents; reports any changes in resident behavior, safety hazards, or procedural difficulties to the Executive Director.
· Responsible for assisting residents to and from activities
· Assists in the evaluation of each resident according to their backgrounds, activity interests, abilities, and physical limitations and document in ECP
· Calls for assistance when resident's needs require additional support from other staff members.
· Maintains an inventory of all supplies and equipment; maintains the equipment and supplies, insures that materials are stored in a safe and neat location
· Coordinates activities and special events with other departments, including Dining Services.
· Responsible for planning of special community events such as holiday parties. Actively involved in planning outings, evenings, and weekend functions
· In cooperation with staff, develops and creates daily/monthly schedules and calendars and ensures they are displayed appropriately throughout the facility
· Develops and displays thematic/holiday decorations throughout the facility with all Community Life staff
· Assists with developing methods for effective utilization of community resources.
· Regularly interacts with residents by scheduling and personally leading at least one activity per day
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree. Education, psychology, social work, therapy or prior activities background helpful
· Experience in a supervisory role (min 1 year)
· Flexibility and adaptability
· Proficient in English Language, reading, writing, grammar, math skills
· Comfortable working with the senior population, including physically and/or cognitively impaired adults
· Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
· Working knowledge of Human Services/Social Services programs desired
· Creativity & Enthusiasm
· Willingness to learn about and implement Montessori Methodology
Pay: Up to $68,000.00 per year
