Position Summary
The Director of Compliance & HR ensures all Colorado operations: retail, cultivation, and post-production, operate in full compliance with MED regulations and internal company standards. This role provides leadership in both compliance and HR functions: safeguarding licenses, mitigating regulatory risk, supporting audits, and maintaining employee relations, training, and compliance with state and federal labor laws.
Key Expectations
Compliance Oversight
- Develop, implement, and oversee compliance programs across Colorado facilities (retail, cultivation, post-production).
- Conduct regular weekly and monthly compliance audits, track and correct deficiencies.
- Oversee inventory management controls, inventory adjustments, and METRC reporting accuracy.
- Review, update, and enforce SOPs for compliance across all departments.
- Coordinate with management during MED inspections, audits, or investigations.
- Maintain all licenses, renewals, and modifications of premises in good standing.
- Monitor rulemaking developments from MED and other Colorado regulatory bodies; communicate changes and adjust SOPs accordingly.
- Lead safety and incident reporting programs, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions.
- Train managers and staff on regulatory requirements, compliance expectations, and company policies.
Human Resources
- Oversee HR compliance, ensuring alignment with Colorado employment laws (wage & hour, PTO, FAMLI, OSHA, EEO, etc.).
- Partner with leadership on employee relations, performance management, and investigations.
- Maintain personnel files, training records, and compliance with I-9 and badging requirements.
- Lead recruiting and onboarding processes for Colorado operations, ensuring consistent policy adherence.
- Develop and deliver HR and compliance training programs (harassment prevention, workplace safety, SOPs, labor compliance).
- Support payroll and benefits administration in partnership with Finance/HR support staff.

Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ compliance experience in the cannabis industry, with strong knowledge of Colorado MED regulations.
- Prior HR leadership or compliance experience strongly preferred.
- Gusto Payroll experience preferred.
- Proven track record in retail and cultivation compliance management.
- Excellent knowledge of METRC and cannabis regulatory reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of Colorado employment laws and HR best practices.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to train, coach, and lead cross-functional teams.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
