Compensation

  • Salary Range: $78,894 – $140,000 annually
  • Incentive Bonus: 17.5% – 26.25%
  • Sign-On Bonus: Case-by-case basis
  • Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case basis
  • Recruitment Fee: 20%

Position Overview

A hospital in Western North Carolina is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Emergency Services to lead a high-performing Emergency Department.

The Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight of departmental operations, staffing, financial performance, and strategic growth. This leader will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence while supporting hospital-wide objectives.

The Emergency Department sees approximately 26,000 visits annually, operates with 15 ED beds, and manages high-acuity cases despite not being a designated trauma center.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations and staffing of the Emergency Department.
  • Monitor patient throughput and ensure efficient care delivery.
  • Support an upcoming ED expansion initiative.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and drive performance improvement initiatives.
  • Promote accountability and transparency in care delivery.

People & Culture

  • Foster high engagement and low turnover within the department.
  • Develop and mentor nursing leadership team (CNCs).
  • Maintain a collaborative environment with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

Financial Management

  • Participate in budget forecasting and monitoring.
  • Manage staffing productivity and departmental expenses.
  • Identify cost-saving and growth opportunities while maintaining quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or approved education plan) required
  • RN License in state of practice (or compact eligibility)
  • Minimum 1+ year of applicable leadership experience
  • Will consider very recent Emergency Department Manager experience
  • Demonstrated measurable accomplishments and performance metrics required on resume

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Master’s Degree
  • 3+ years of applicable leadership experience
