Director of Engineering

DAVCO Technology, the North American leader in diesel fuel-heater/water separators and filter systems seeks a full-time Director of Engineering.

SUMMARY

Directs, guides and coordinates activities of the Engineering Department to ensure the development and on-time launch of defect free products, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

o Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the company’s engineering and development initiatives.

o Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.

o Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.

o Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the organizations industry.

o Travel to offsite customer facilities to ensure DAVCO is meeting their needs as well as build excellent business relationships for future needs.

o Direct activities for the design of new products, modify existing designs, and develop test procedures.

o Coordinate Engineering activities during product development and launch following the APQP process.

o Develop and maintain state of the art engineering capability including test labs, prototype equipment,

o CAD design and advanced methods, e.g., FMEA, FEA, CFD, etc.

o Analyze technology trends and leverages appropriate technologies into DAVCO's products.

o Develop and coordinate implementation of training for his/her respective resources.

o Forecast operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.

o Maintain contact with OEM engineers at vehicle and equipment manufacturers to assure DAVCO

o products meet application criteria.

o Ensure department meets any criteria associated with certification for the IATF 16949 program.

o Maintain and support an active cross-functional team approach to projects and problem solving.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

- Minimum-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Degree in Engineering preferred

- 5 to 7 years of management/supervisor experience

- Budget experience

- Experience working in a team environment

- APQP experience

COMP PACKAGE

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use hands, talk, and listen. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Extended time may be required working on a computer. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Safety equipment (PPE) is required in areas where required, including foot, eye and hearing protection. May require weekend and/or overnight travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Non-smoking, clean manufacturing facility with cross-functional, empowered teams. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Experience:
