Director of Engineering

At Zulal Wellness Resort, we are looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Engineering to lead the resort’s engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and asset performance. As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee all engineering functions, including preventive maintenance, facility management, sustainability initiatives, and capital projects, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and resort standards. Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance operations to ensure the efficient, safe, and reliable functioning of resort facilities and infrastructure.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve engineering policies, procedures, and preventive maintenance programs in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare, manage, and monitor departmental budgets, capital expenditures, and resource allocation to achieve operational and financial objectives.
• Oversee maintenance, renovation, and construction projects, ensuring quality standards, timelines, and budget requirements are met.
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, government authorities, and internal stakeholders to support resort operations and development initiatives.
• Ensure all buildings, equipment, and utility systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and performance.
• Provide technical expertise and strategic recommendations for facility improvements, energy management, sustainability initiatives, and capital projects.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Engineering team, ensuring high performance, productivity, and compliance with safety standards.
• Monitor and resolve engineering-related guest concerns and operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Manage departmental inventory, equipment, and supplies to ensure cost-effective operations and asset protection.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive engineering and facilities management experience within luxury hotels, resorts, or large-scale hospitality environments, including at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven expertise in building systems, facility maintenance, engineering operations, and asset management.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire and life safety systems, and building automation systems.
• Experience overseeing swimming pools, water treatment systems, utilities, and sustainability initiatives.
• Demonstrated success in managing capital projects, renovations, preventive maintenance programs, and contractor/vendor relationships.
• Strong project management, budgeting, and cost-control capabilities with a focus on operational efficiency and asset preservation.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate multicultural teams while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex operational challenges effectively.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
• Proficiency in engineering management systems, maintenance software, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Thorough understanding of health, safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements within the hospitality industry.
