Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic
Director of Engineering
to lead all engineering and technical support functions within our
Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO)
operations.
This leadership role is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance and repair activities are supported by accurate engineering data, compliant technical solutions, and approved repair processes in accordance with FAA, EASA, OEM, and customer requirements.
The Director of Engineering will drive technical excellence, repair capability development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across engine and aircraft maintenance operations while supporting business growth and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Technical Oversight

Lead and oversee all engineering and technical services functions supporting maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations

Provide strategic direction for repair development, technical support, troubleshooting, and engineering compliance

Ensure all engineering activities comply with FAA, EASA, OEM, and customer technical requirements

Oversee development, approval, and control of engineering procedures, technical instructions, and repair data
-
Serve as the primary engineering authority for complex technical issues, repair decisions, and operational technical support

Ensure proper control and revision of technical manuals, service bulletins, engineering orders, and technical publications
Workscope Development & Maintenance Planning

Develop, review, and approve maintenance workscopes for projects based on customer requirements, inspection findings, regulatory obligations, and operational capabilities

Ensure workscopes accurately define required inspections, repairs, modifications, service bulletins, and compliance actions

Collaborate with Sales, Customer Support, Operations, and Quality teams to align workscopes with customer expectations and operational feasibility

Support pre-induction planning, project scoping, and technical review of customer assets

Manage workscope revisions based on teardown findings, technical discoveries, and customer approvals

Ensure workscopes support profitability, compliance, and efficient operational execution
Repair Development & Technical Solutions

Oversee development of repair schemes, technical deviations, and alternate repair solutions in accordance with OEM and regulatory standards

Support repair vs. replace decisions through engineering analysis and cost-effective technical solutions

Drive capability expansion by developing new repairs, processes, and technical competencies

Provide engineering support for field service, AOG events, and operational troubleshooting
Operational Support & Cross-Functional Coordination

Support teams by resolving technical issues impacting turnaround time, compliance, or repair quality

Collaborate closely with teams to ensure technical and operational alignment

Support material sourcing decisions involving technical alternatives or repairs

Ensure engineering resources are aligned with production schedules and customer delivery commitments
Key Additional Responsibilities Specific to This Role

Ownership of customer and operational workscope generation

Technical planning from induction through final release

Commercial alignment of technical scope with profitability and customer expectations

Strategic engineering support
Experience Required
-
Minimum of
8–15 years of progressive aviation engineering, technical services, or MRO experience
, with significant exposure to engine maintenance environments

Minimum of
5+ years in management roles
, overseeing technical teams, planning, or repair development functions

Proven experience developing, reviewing, and managing
maintenance workscopes
for aircraft, engines, or components
-
Extensive experience supporting regulated aviation maintenance environments
