NOTICE OF VACANCY
Position: Director of English/Language Arts & Library Media, K-5
Requirements: Glastonbury Public Schools is seeking an instructional leader with deep
expertise in elementary literacy and a commitment to high-quality,
student-centered instruction. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong
command of foundational literacy development and evidence-based
reading instruction, including the ability to support educators in
implementing research-aligned practices. The successful candidate will
demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and organizational
skills, and the ability to partner with educators and administrators to
strengthen literacy instruction and outcomes for all students.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems
of Support (MTSS), literacy intervention, and the effective use of data to
guide instruction and student support. Demonstrated experience
overseeing and supporting literacy personnel, including coaches, reading
specialists, library media specialists and tutors is preferred.
A minimum of five years teaching experience in language arts or reading
is required. Three years of successful supervisory or building level
administrative experience is preferred.
CT Certification 092 (Intermediate Administration or Supervision) is
required. CT Certification 097 (Reading & Language Arts Consultant)
certification is preferred as well.
The work year is 225 days.
Salary ranges from $143,184–$184-654 with an excellent benefits
package.
