Position Summary
The Director of Finance serves as the financial backbone of PPi, providing the analytical clarity, strategic insight, and operational rigor that enable leadership to make informed, confident decisions. This role demands someone who is both a hands-on operator and a trusted partner who owns the finance operations while translating financial data into the visibility and context the team needs to execute and grow. The Director of Finance will co-architect and operationalize an AI-first function, embedding automation, intelligence, and scalability thereby building next-generation finance capabilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Own all accounting operations and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting packages; monthly, quarterly, and annual (including Board reports), together with appropriate financial KPIs.
- Own Finance systems architecture and data strategy.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls and financial processes to support scalability, audit and exit readiness.
- Transform monthly close into a highly automated, near real-time process.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Build and maintain scalable, driver-based financial models aligned to SaaS metrics.
- Transition forecasting to continuous, AI-assisted planning cycles.
- Deliver actionable insights on unit economics, pricing, growth efficiency and capital allocation.
- Enable self-service analytics for business leaders.
Business Partnering and Decision Support
- Act as a financial business advisor to functional leaders (Sales, Product & Engineering, Operations)
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies in coordination with leadership.
Building a Scalable, Technology-Enabled Finance Function
- Design a lean, high-impact finance organization augmented by AI agents and automation
- Establish clear interaction models between humans and AI (human-in-the-loop controls, exception handling, oversight)
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging technology to scale output without proportional headcount growth
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA required
- Demonstrated ability to own full finance function end-to-end, including reporting and tax.
- Hands on proficiency with financial systems and data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Netsuite, Quickbooks or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools, including generative AI, AI-enhanced ERP or FP&A platforms, and automation tools, an asset
- Proven track record of finance transformation and systems implementation an asset; a technology forward mindset
- Data driven and intellectually curious.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to executives, operators, and investors.
- Ability to work independently, anticipate the needs of leadership and follow through without close supervision.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and comfort operating in a results-driven, deadline-oriented environment.
Experience
- 8 or more years of progressive experience in finance or accounting;
- 3 or more years of experience in a mid-tier accounting firm
- 2-3 years of experience as a Controller
- Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology environment an asset
Requirements
This is a full-time position. The Director of Finance is expected to maintain regular availability during standard business hours. Occasional additional hours may be required during peak financial cycles such as month-end close, year-end reporting, budget season, or time-sensitive strategic initiatives.
The role involves regular use of a computer and financial systems, frequent collaboration with executive leadership and cross-functional partners, and an expectation of reliability, responsiveness, and professional judgment.
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid work environment, combining remote work with in-office collaboration as needed. The position involves extended periods of computer use, virtual and in-person meetings, and cross-functional teamwork.
