Summary:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Global Tax Director oversees all aspects of the company’s global tax operations, including tax provision (ASC 740), tax compliance, tax planning, transfer pricing and tax controversy, ensuring tax reporting, compliance and financial accounting in alignment with tax laws and regulations. Reporting to the VP Tax and Treasurer, the ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge, excellent leadership and critical thinking skills, and experience working in a growing multinational environment.

Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Global Tax Provision (ASC 740)

o Lead the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual consolidated income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, including both current and deferred tax calculations.

o Support the accurate reporting of tax positions in financial statements, including tax reserves (FIN 48 & FAS 5), valuation allowances, and tax-related financial disclosures.


Global Tax Compliance and Reporting

o Oversee US federal, state, and local income tax compliance including extensions, quarterly estimates, and annual returns.

o Prepare and/or review US international tax calculations, including GILTI, FDII, Subpart F, BEAT and foreign tax credits.

o Support the preparation and/or review of US international tax forms (e.g. 5471, 8858, 1118) as part of the consolidation federal return.

o Manage outsourced compliance relationships (e.g., Big 4 or regional firms).

o Ensure compliance with international tax requirements in coordination with local controllers and external tax advisors.

o Oversee and review indirect taxes (sales/use, property, unclaimed property, VAT, etc.) and related filings.

Tax Planning and Strategy

      • Identify and implement domestic and international tax planning opportunities.
      • Assist in the modeling and forecasting of global ETR, cash tax, and tax attributes.
      • Monitor and assess evolving tax legislation and global developments.
      • Drive global tax planning and tax incentive projects, including R&D tax credits, entity rationalization, intercompany financing and transfer pricing.
      • Collaborate with treasury, legal, accounting, finance and business leaders on cross-border transactions, new business expansion and M&A.
  • Transfer Pricing

  • o Oversee the global transfer pricing strategy and work with external advisors to ensure proper documentation.

  • o Manage intercompany pricing for goods, services, and IP.

  • Tax Controversy

      • Manage federal, state, and foreign tax audits and inquiries.
  • o Monitor and mitigate tax risks and maintain effective internal controls.

  • Team Leadership , Process Improvement & Technology

    • Lead and mentor a growing global team, including internal staff and external consultants.
    • Build scalable tax processes and implement automation tools where possible.
    • Drive continuous improvement and ensure SOX compliance in tax-related processes.
    • Leverage tax technology to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilities.
    • Lead efforts to improve tax data flows and integrate with ERP and financial systems.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education / Experience

  • Education & Certification

  • o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s in Taxation or JD preferred.

  • o CPA required.


  • Experience

  • o 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • o Strong technical background in ASC 740, US federal and state tax, and international tax.

  • o Experience in both public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and corporate environments.

  • Leadership & Skills

  • o Proficiency with tax software (OneSource, Alteryx, etc.) and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).

  • o Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and complex formulas.

  • o Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • o Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • o Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects.

  • o Hands-on, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


  • Abilities

  • o Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday

  • o Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday

  • o Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, and reason


  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment
    • Hybrid work schedule
    • Occasional travel up to 10-15%
