With 7 Clubhouses, 1 school site, and 8 Specialty Programs, the BGC Northwest San Diego team loves finding ways to impact the lives of the local community youth. Serving communities from Oceanside to Carmel Valley, the Director of Grants will collaborate on sustaining and expanding programs that impact kids’ lives and help shape the systems and processes that power critical funding. Job Summary:

Under the direction of the CEO, this in-person/onsite position is responsible for writing grant applications, coordinating pre-award activities for all grant applications at the BGC, developing post-award budgets, and providing support to program staff in charge of grant-funded projects. The Director of Grants is responsible for cultivating grantors, researching and identifying external funding opportunities in alignment with BGCNWSD’s program needs and desires, developing grant templates, working with program staff to develop and standardize reporting metrics, and overseeing the general grant development and reporting process. The Director serves as a liaison with community members, elected officials, funding source programs, contract officers, national resource developers, and community organizations. Overall, the Director of Grants will support all fund development initiatives and provide resources as appropriate. Additionally, the Director of Grants supervises the Grants team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a vision for annual grants, forecast, budget, and drive the grant plan in collaboration with program staff managers and the CEO/leadership.
  • Write grant applications and provide supporting documents to submit to grant funding agencies.
  • Research, identify, and secure grant funding to meet the organization's needs.
  • Lead all grant processes (training, supervision, evaluations, documentation, reporting, etc.) to ensure compliance with the funder guidelines for all grants assigned to them.
  • Work cross-functionally with program staff, finance, and development to gather pertinent reporting information.
  • Lead staff on all aspects of grants, including content, requirements, measurement, and reports.
  • Develop forms, processes, procedures, and measurement tools for the implementation of grants.
  • In collaboration with program staff, develop and implement analytics and to demonstrate grant impact.
  • Monitor proposals and funding application requirements, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Work with Club leaders and program staff to prepare for Funder Site Visits.
  • Steward current funders and develop relationships with prospective funders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Instrumntl grant management system, inclusive of contacts, funding opportunities, and requirements of active grants.
  • Support the Development team for special projects as necessary.
  • Arrange, host, tour, meet, and prepare presentations for funders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in the grant lifecycle process, demonstrating successful grant proposals and grant management
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.
