We are seeking an experienced Director of HR to join our team on a temporary 7-month assignment. This role requires a unique blend of strategic leadership and hands-on execution. You will shape HR strategy while also directly managing critical HR processes day-to-day.

The ideal candidate brings proven expertise across the full spectrum of HR functions—including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, training coordination, and HR data management. You must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves as an individual contributor while also thinking strategically about how HR supports business goals during a period of growth and transition.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnering

  • Partner with the CFO and leadership team to align HR initiatives with company goals.
  • Anticipate people-related needs and proactively recommend solutions for engagement, retention, and compliance.
  • Lead strategic projects such as HR system implementations, benefits program evaluation, and performance management enhancements.
  • Evaluate HR technology needs, recommend new tools, and lead system implementations or upgrades to improve efficiency and employee experience.

Individual Contributor Execution

  • Employee Relations: Act as first point of contact for employee inquiries and workplace concerns, supporting conflict resolution and investigations as needed.
  • Performance Management: Own bi-annual performance check-ins and quarterly goal-setting/rating cycles.
  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Manage end-to-end processes, ensuring compliance, smooth employee experience, and proper documentation.
  • Recruitment & Staffing: Post/manage openings, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, draft independent contractor agreements, and oversee system access setup.
  • Benefits Administration: Lead 2026 Open Enrollment, support employees with benefits changes, reconcile vendor billing, administer retirement plans, and ensure accurate payroll integration.
  • Leave of Absence: Administer FMLA, ADA, parental, and other leaves with compliance and empathy.
  • Payroll & Compliance: Maintain payroll accuracy, monitor legislative changes, respond to state notices, and support SOC 2 or other audits.
  • Tool/Systems: Maintain and regularly update the HRIS and organizational chart; ensure accuracy across platforms; manage integrations with payroll and benefits providers; troubleshoot system issues and support end users.

Job Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with exposure to both strategic HR leadership and tactical execution.
  • Proficient to advanced level with ADP WorkForce Now.
  • Experience with Talent management software, DocuSign, Microsoft Office, Smartsheet.
  • Proven ability to balance high-level strategic projects with detailed individual contributor work.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law, benefits administration, and HRIS systems.
  • Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced environment where you’ll need to both design strategy and deliver execution.
  • Experienced in OKRs and change management initiatives.
  • Experience in implementing Talent management software, HR programs and policies.
  • Experience supporting multi-state or global workforces is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field highly desirable.

The US base salary mid-point range for this Temporary full-time position is $140,000 to $160,000. The base salary offer is determined by a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, and geographic location.
