About Us

US Paper Mill Company, LLC (USPM) is a fast-growing manufacturer of high-quality nitrile gloves, serving the medical, industrial, and food safety sectors. In a highly competitive and rapidly evolving industry, our success is driven by cutting-edge automation, strict safety compliance, and, most importantly, our people. We are looking for a strategic, forward-thinking HR Director to lead our human resources department, optimize our workforce, and champion a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Position Overview

As the Director of Human Resources, you will be a strategic partner to the executive leadership team while overseeing day-to-day HR operations across our manufacturing facilities. You will design and execute HR strategies that support our business goals, with a heavy emphasis on high-volume manufacturing recruitment, workforce retention, labor compliance, and workplace safety culture.

This role requires a unique blend of strategic vision and "boots-on-the-ground" leadership, moving seamlessly from executive meetings to the manufacturing plant floor.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Talent Management

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall manufacturing and business goals.
  • Create robust recruitment, onboarding, and training pipelines to support continuous shift operations.
  • Build succession plans and leadership development programs for plant managers, supervisors, and shift leads.

Employee Relations & Retention

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees, resolving complex employee relations issues fairly and efficiently.
  • Design and implement innovative retention strategies tailored to manufacturing personnel to reduce turnover and boost morale.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performance workplace culture that bridges the gap between administrative and production staff.

Safety & Compliance

  • Partner closely with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to ensure a zero-injury safety culture and strict OSHA compliance.
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims management, return-to-work programs, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEOC.

Compensation, Benefits, & HR Data

  • Evaluate and optimize compensation structures, shift differentials, and bonus programs to keep the company competitive in the local labor market.
  • Oversee the administration of comprehensive health, retirement, and wellness benefits programs.
  • Utilize HRIS data and key performance indicators (KPIs) - such as time-to-hire, turnover rates, and labor costs—to drive data-backed business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive HR management experience, with at least 3-5 years leading HR within a manufacturing or industrial environment (chemical processing, medical devices, or plastics/rubber manufacturing is a massive plus).
  • Certifications: SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification strongly preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the unique challenges of high-volume manufacturing environments, including shift work, safety standards, and operational efficiency.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional emotional intelligence, stellar conflict resolution skills, and the ability to build trust with both production workers and executive leadership.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with modern HRIS, ATS, and time/attendance software.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) matching program.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and executive-level advancement.

USPM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
