We’re looking for a seasoned Director of HR who can confidently lead day-to-day HR operations while helping shape a values-aligned, people-centered hybrid workplace. Here, HR isn’t a back-office function — it’s a core part of how we live our values. You’ll help guide a community of people who genuinely care about purpose, growth, and how we show up for each other.

Who we are:

Wayfarer Pathways is a shared service center supporting various entities our Founder has established. This role will lead HR across multiple organizations comprising a total of 90 employees in multiple states. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both the operational and relational sides of HR. We work one day a week in Wilmette, all other work is done from your home office.

Your Role:

In this unique HR Department of One role, you will be responsible and accountable for:

  • HR operations, compliance, and policy development
  • Employee Engagement and Coaching with empathy and clarity
  • Ownership of the full employee lifecycle
  • Performance management and ongoing manager coaching
  • Benefits, Payroll database, and HR systems
  • Culture-building that reflects our mission and principles

What we anticipate you bring to the table:

We would anticipate you would bring stability, maturity, and thoughtfulness to every interaction — and you’ll model the kind of leadership we hope to see throughout the organization. Qualified candidates will have 10–15 years of broad HR experience, including leading or running the HR function. You should have a blend of operational excellence, service orientation, and entrepreneurial spirit and be comfortable in a mission-driven, Bahá’í-inspired workplace.

SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $145,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
