Overview
We are a family-owned automotive dealership and automotive-related business seeking an experienced, people-focused Director of Human Resources to lead and evolve our HR function across the organization. This role is responsible for building strong, practical HR practices that support a high-performance culture, ensure compliance, and enhance employee experience across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

People & Culture

  • Champion a positive, accountable, and people-first culture aligned with our family-owned values
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and department managers on employee relations and performance management
  • Support leadership development, coaching, and succession planning

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Oversee recruiting strategies for all dealership and automotive-related roles
  • Partner with department leaders to ensure effective hiring, onboarding, and retention
  • Continuously improve onboarding to drive early engagement and productivity

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Manage employee policies, handbook updates, and HR documentation
  • Oversee investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations with professionalism and consistency

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll

  • Administer compensation structures, incentive plans, and benefits programs
  • Partner with payroll and benefits vendors to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Support leadership with workforce planning and compensation analysis

Performance Management & Training

  • Implement and manage performance review processes
  • Identify training needs and coordinate internal and external training programs
  • Support ongoing employee development across departments

HR Operations & Systems

  • Manage HRIS and employee data systems
  • Track HR metrics including turnover, engagement, and recruiting effectiveness
  • Recommend and implement HR process improvements

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience (automotive, retail, or multi-location environment preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and manage sensitive situations with discretion
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting multi-department or multi-location teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (HR certification a plus)
