Mercer Ranches seeks to fill the position of Director of Human Resources for our location near Prosser Washington. For over 125 years, Mercers have been stewards of the same land in Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills. We got our start in livestock and row crops. In 1972, we planted the first wine grapes in the acclaimed Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Now, our diversified operations span a 12,000 acre farm along the Columbia River. Operations include wineries and tasting rooms in Walla Walla, Prosser and Woodinville. Main headquarters are on farm at 46 Sonova Road, Prosser WA
JOB TITLE: Director of Human Resources
REPORTS TO: CEO
SUPERVISES: Safety Coordinator and H2A Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time – NOT REMOTE
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Employee Life Cycle Management:
Responsible for; maintaining Job descriptions, placing job postings, applicant tracking/screening and the onboarding process. Tracking certifications /driver’s license expirations and maintaining DOT files with Trucking Manager. Building annual wage scales, oversee annual review cycle and providing annual compensation reports to full time staff during the review process. Tracking vacation /sick time accruals, updating the employee handbook, employee discipline documentation and the termination/off boarding process.
· Benefits:
Track ACA eligibility, track new hire eligibility/enrollment, annual benefit renewal (Medical, vision, dental, life insurance, LT disability, 401k, COBRA, etc.
· Employee Morale:
Organize company BBQs, Christmas Parties, Birthday parties, and other employee morale building events.
· Safety:
Supervise Safety Coordinator. Insure that monthly safety meetings are conducted & carry out internal safety audits. Manage L&I claims (Vigilant – Retro Group for L&I) and the L&I Return to work program.
· Compliance:
Conduct I-9 Compliance/self-audit, Unemployment Claims management, DOL Wage & Hour/FLSA, EEOC and H2A Program Compliance.
· H2A Support:
In addition, this role will oversee and provide support to the H-2A program including, recruiting, payroll and logistics of foreign workers when needed.
The Director of Human Resources will continually work towards improving the HR function of Mercer Ranches by identifying policies and procedures to implement or improve upon. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in human resources or management
· 7+ years' of professional HR experience, ideally from an ag based business, with a combination of corporate and business unit line experience preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
· Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
