Director of Library Services
Performs a variety of complex professional and administrative work in planning, developing, scheduling, directing, and implementing library services on-site, on-line and throughout the community.
The employee will have the responsibility of:
- Exercising direct supervision over Circulation, Reference, and Children’s Services staff
- Managing and supervising assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources
- Gathering, interpreting, and preparing data for studies, reports, and recommendations
- Implementation the 5-Year Strategic Plan
- Coordinating department activities with other departments and agencies as needed
- Assuring that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget, performing cost control activities
- Establishing and maintaining cordial working relationships with other City divisions and departments, providing support for research and informational needs
- Preparing a variety of reports and maintains necessary operating records
- Monitoring monthly expenditures
- Preparing specifications for bid items and makes recommendations award of bids for various goods and services
- Preparing and submitting reports on the budget, special library projects, library status and activities, library statistics, and various policy reports

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an ALA-accredited master’s degree program required; and
- Five (5) years of experience in library operations including two (2) years supervisory experience
Special Requirements:
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire
- Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
- Must be available for weekend and evening work when required
