About Ivory Innovations:
Ivory Innovations is both an operating foundation and an academic center based at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. We bridge research and industry, support and fund breakthrough ideas, engage students nationwide, and directly implement housing solutions through our development work in Utah.
About the Role:

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong design instincts with strategic thinking and operational follow-through.
The Director of Marketing will be responsible for how Ivory Innovations shows up in the world — visually, digitally, and across key channels — and for building the systems and standards that allow marketing to scale with the organization. This role is ideal for someone who wants real ownership, autonomy, and the ability to shape both strategy and execution.

- Set creative direction for reports, presentations, events, websites, campaigns, and public-facing materials

- Continuously improve user experience for key audiences (partners, students, funders, policymakers, media)
Social Media & Distribution
- Own Ivory Innovations’ social media presence across platforms (primarily LinkedIn, Instagram, X)
- Set platform-specific strategies focused on visibility, credibility, and engagement — not just posting volume
- Collaborate internally to surface stories, announcements, and moments worth amplifyingOversee content production and scheduling, with an emphasis on quality, clarity, and brand alignment
Marketing Operations & Analytics
- Build and manage marketing systems, tools, and processes (asset management, analytics, email platforms, social scheduling, etc.)
- Track and report on performance across website, email, and social channels to inform strategy and priorities
- Translate data into clear insights for leadership rather than vanity metrics
Cross-Team Leadership
- Serve as a strategic partner to program, policy, development, and leadership teamsHelp teams think through how and when marketing can best support major initiatives, launches, and events
- Provide creative direction to vendors, contractors, or junior staff as the team grows
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, brand, digital, or creative roles with increasing ownership and responsibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism
- Strong background in web design, graphic design, or digital brand managementProven ability to both set direction and execute — this is not a purely managerial role
- Proficiency with Wix and modern design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of UX/UI principles, responsive design, accessibility, and SEO
- Experience managing social media channels for an organization or brand
- Strong project management skills and comfort juggling multiple priorities
- Clear communicator who can work effectively across teams and with leadership
Preferred Experience
- Experience in mission-driven, nonprofit, policy, or innovation-focused organizations

Why This Role Matters
This role is central to Ivory Innovations’ next phase of growth. The Director of Marketing will help define how a nationally recognized housing innovation organization communicates its value, credibility, and impact — and will have the authority and trust to truly own the function, not just support it.
