Description:
The Director of Marketing leads and coordinates the organization’s marketing, communications, and brand strategy by bridging organizational goals with effective outreach, engagement, and storytelling. This role provides strategic direction, oversight, and hands-on leadership across marketing initiatives, digital platforms, and communication channels to ensure consistent messaging and strong brand presence. The Director of Marketing collaborates closely with leadership, program teams, and external partners to drive awareness, engagement, and growth while supporting organizational priorities and mission-driven outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute integrated digital and print marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Design and implement organization-wide campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and promotional efforts.
- Maintain and protect Sycamore’s brand standards and ensure consistent use across all departments and external partners.
- Provide creative direction and messaging for agency initiatives, events, and materials.
- Manage all organizational social media platforms, with strategic emphasis on high-engagement channels.
- Create, schedule, publish, and monitor original digital content.
- Manage search engine optimization (SEO) and digital analytics to increase visibility, engagement, and inbound leads.
- Monitor performance metrics and adjust strategies to optimize reach and impact.
- Create compelling written and visual content for blogs, campaigns, newsletters, and marketing materials.
- Develop impact stories highlighting individuals served, staff achievements, and organizational milestones.
- Manage internal communications, including The NEST intranet and The NEST Express employee newsletter.
- Oversee email and text communication systems for internal and external audiences.
- Manage and maintain the Sycamore Services website, including updates, redesigns, and content accuracy.
- Oversee online platforms including the employee swag store and marketing-related business systems.
- Manage CRM lead tracking, data accuracy, and follow-up workflows.
- Support fundraising and donor engagement systems, including online giving tools.
- Design and coordinate advertising for local, regional, and community publications.
- Draft and distribute press releases and coordinate media outreach.
- Ensure consistent messaging and brand representation in all public-facing communications.
- Serve on internal committees, including Grants & Fundraising and Employee Recognition.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, program teams, finance, and external partners.
- Plan, promote, and support marketing, community, and fundraising events.
- Provide onsite event support, photography, social media coverage, and brand oversight.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or extensive experience in marketing, business systems, and advertising
- Up-to-date knowledge of current trends and best practices in digital marketing and performance measurement
- Proven experience identifying target audiences and developing, executing, and leading multi-channel marketing campaigns that engage, educate, and motivate
- Demonstrated effective leadership experience at the director level
- Proven ability to build positive, productive, and professional relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, facilitation, and time-management skills
- Ability to be flexible, dependable, and a collaborative team player
- Strong multi-tasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel to Sycamore Services locations as needed
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds to assist with vendor fairs and community event setup
