Director of Marketing and Communications

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Marketing and Communications to lead our brand storytelling, digital presence, and outreach initiatives. This strategic role involves developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that elevates the mission, programs, and impact across multiple platforms. This key leadership role oversees all aspects of brand management, media relations, digital strategy, storytelling, and internal and external communications. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, creative storyteller, and results-driven leader with a passion for nonprofit mission-driven work. You will inspire teams, foster collaboration, and ensure our messaging resonates powerfully with target audiences to elevate our presence and achieve mission goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a dynamic communications and marketing strategy aligned with mission and goals.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all materials and platforms.
  • Strengthen visibility with key audiences, including donors, stakeholders, partners, media, and the public.
  • Oversee all digital platforms, including website content, email marketing, newsletters, and social media channels.
  • Lead content development (written, visual, and video) to highlight programs, events, and success stories.
  • Expereinced in webinar production and facilitation and conference script writing
  • Manage the design, production, and distribution of promotional materials and publications.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for media inquiries and public statements.
  • Cultivate relationships with press, industry media, and community influencers to secure earned media coverage.
  • Draft and disseminate press releases, op-eds, and executive communications.
  • Support cross-departmental communication and ensure alignment with organizational messaging.
  • Develop communication toolkits and training staff and leadership
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engagement, reach, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Use analytics to inform future communication strategies and content development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of professional experience in nonprofit communications or marketing with preferred experience with nonprofits
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency in digital platforms, including website CMS, email marketing tools, and social media management systems.
  • Experience managing contractors, designers, or marketing vendors.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools.

This is a full time/remote with the availability for occasional travel, salary+benefits internal role.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • communications and marketing: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Webinar Development and Facilitation: 1 year (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (Preferred)
