Overview:
Under the direction of the COO, the Director of Marketing and Community Engagement is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing, communications and community engagement plans. Primary responsibilities include providing effective marketing, communication and engagement strategies and implementation thereof. The Director of Marketing and Community Engagement is responsible for the overall effectiveness and sustainability of all three areas of responsibility. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
Responsibilities:
MARKETING/COMMUNICATION

Develop and implement the organization’s annual Marketing and Communication Plan in collaboration with appropriate Y staff or board committees.

Design or produce materials such as posters, websites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise programs, enhance community visibility, and fundraising initiatives.

Implement and maintain a string social media program with daily activity.

Develop relationships with local media such as the Albuquerque Journal, radio stations, TV stations, etc. Develop and maintain media contact lists.

Write and submit press release when appropriate. Maintains updated files of YMCA’s media relations (both press and electronic).

Provide timely marketing and communications products to the various Y programs, both internally and externally, in order to further the Y mission and financially sustain the organization for the future.

Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals.

Contact corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes.

Write speeches, talking points or other promotional materials to increase awareness of the cause, mission, or goals of organization.

Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership, marketing plans and Y USA brand compliances.
- Develop effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations and companies. Make presentations about the YMCA in order to promote the organization in the community.
- Develop and manage content weekly on our website, app and intranet. Ensures training and support are provided to users.

Utilize the free calendars in the community to communicate events.

Actively seeks new avenues to enhance the local Y brand.

Regularly review all marketing activities and promotions to evaluate their effectiveness against established KPIs, including conversion rates, engagement metrics, and return on investment. This review should also assess customer acquisition costs and overall campaign performance to ensure resources are being allocated strategically and driving measurable growth.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Lead and assist COO or designate staff in event planning and execution.

Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for events.

Assist COO or designate staff to secure commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporate donors for events.

Prepare materials for charitable events, such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, gift bags, etc.

Establish fundraising or participation goals with Development Director or designate staff and the Y Board for special events.

Assist Development Director and coordinate web-based fundraising activities, such as online auctions or donation websites.

Assist with planning and directing special events with assigned event chairman for fundraising, such as silent auction, dances, golf events or other innovative events or efforts that further the mission of the Y.

Coordinate transportation or delivery of materials, supplies, or donations for events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields/ Preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 3 years of previous professional experience in marketing, communications, and community engagement.

Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standards business software, graphic software, website development, and customer management systems.

Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.

Ability to research and implement new technologies and solutions.

Skills in problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.

Essential time management skills for managing multiple projects at the same time in all three areas of the job.

Posted Salary Range: USD $65,000.00 - USD $70,000.00 /Yr.
