Director of Medical Billing Operations

Schedule: 30 -40 hours per week - Flexible Schedule
Work Setting: Hybrid – remote and in-person

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Physical Therapy or Healthcare Medical Biller to manage insurance billing and reimbursement for our physical therapy practice. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare billing processes, payer guidelines, and revenue cycle management. Experience in physical therapy billing or healthcare billing is required.

This position has the flexibility to be 30-40 hours per week and offers a hybrid schedule with both remote and in-office work.

Key Responsibilities

• Submit accurate and timely insurance claims for physical therapy services
• Verify insurance benefits, coverage, and authorization requirements
• Ensure proper use of CPT, ICD-10, and applicable modifiers
• Post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient payments
• Research, correct, and resubmit denied or underpaid claims
• Manage appeals and payer follow-up
• Monitor accounts receivable and aging reports
• Communicate with patients regarding billing questions and balances
• Maintain compliance with payer guidelines and clinic policies
• Collaborate with front office and clinical staff to ensure billing accuracy
• Stay current with healthcare billing regulations and insurance requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2–3 years of medical billing experience in physical therapy or healthcare (required)
• Solid knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding, and modifiers
• Experience billing Medicare and commercial insurance plans
• Familiarity with EMR and medical billing software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment
• Clear and professional communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Physical therapy billing experience strongly preferred
• Billing or coding certification (CPB, CPC, or similar)
• Experience with outpatient rehab or medical office billing systems
