Advanced Surgery Center of Fort Myers is seeking an experienced and respected nursing leader to serve as Director of Nursing for our ambulatory surgery center specializing in spine, orthopedics, podiatry, and pain management.

Position overview

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing all nursing and clinical operations within the surgery center. This individual will work closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, administrators, and clinical staff to ensure excellence in patient care, regulatory compliance, operational performance, and staff leadership. The ideal candidate will bring prior ASC leadership experience along with a strong background in orthopedic and spine procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for daily nursing and clinical operations
  • Supervise, support and develop clinical staff
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
  • Maintain high standards for patient care, safety, and infection prevention
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures and workflow improvements
  • Manage staffing schedules, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, and administrative leadership
  • Oversee clinical inventory management, supplies and vendor coordination
  • Support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and reporting processes
  • Foster a professional, team-oriented and patient-focused culture

Qualifications

  • Active Florida RN license required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in an ASC setting
  • Strong experience in orthopedic and spine procedures required
  • Knowledge of ASC operations, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with EMR systems and surgical operations preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications required

  • Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends
