Director of Nursing (Pediatrics)

About Home Heart Florida

Home Heart Florida isn’t a typical home health agency — we’re a mission-driven pediatric team helping children with complex medical needs stay safe, happy, and at home. We put families at the center, remove red tape for clinicians, and build systems that make care simpler, faster, and more reliable.

We lead with kindness, empathy, and relentless follow-through.

Role Overview

As the Director of Nursing (DON), you won’t just be overseeing clinical operations—you’ll be pioneering the future of pediatric home healthcare in Florida. This role is a unique blend of clinical leadership, innovation, and hands-on patient care. You’ll be instrumental in developing our care programs, mentoring staff, and directly shaping our services as we expand into new regions and specialties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Transformative Training Programs: Develop cutting-edge educational programs for family caregivers that go beyond standard training—creating modules that utilize technology and real-world simulations to prepare families effectively.
  • Supervise and Elevate Nursing Staff: Build a culture of excellence by mentoring RNs, ensuring that every team member delivers top-tier care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.
  • Direct Impactful Patient Care: Conduct thorough patient assessments, design and update care plans, and work directly with families to ensure the best possible outcomes for their children.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work hand-in-hand with our tech, product, and operations teams to develop and implement innovative healthcare solutions that streamline clinical workflows and enhance patient experiences.
  • Expand and Shape Services: As we grow, you’ll play a pivotal role in expanding our service offerings, building new specialties, and ensuring our programs remain industry-leading.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Florida.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years in nursing, with at least two years in home health services. Pediatric and medically complex child experience is a bonus.
  • Home Health Administrative Expertise: Proven ability in managing home health operations, including regulatory compliance, patient coordination, and team supervision.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management experience, with a track record of building high-performance clinical teams.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Required for occasional day travel within Florida.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient with email, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), practice management, and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with families, staff, and partners, providing clear and compassionate communication.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Residency: Must reside in Florida, preferably in the Pensacola area.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Comprehensive Health and Wellness Package: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance to support your well-being.
  • 401(k) Matching Program: Competitive company contributions to help secure your financial future.
  • Flexible Scheduling: We respect your time—our flexible scheduling options let you balance work and personal commitments seamlessly.
  • Professional Development Programs: Access to advanced training and growth opportunities to help you excel and expand your expertise.
  • Tech and Wellness Stipends: We provide the tools you need, from tech support for remote work to wellness programs that keep you at your best.

Who We’re Looking For

This isn’t your typical clinical role—if you’re ready to step beyond the ordinary and lead the charge in revolutionizing pediatric care, you might be the perfect fit. We are looking for someone who:

  • Thinks Outside the Box: You’re not content with the status quo. You constantly seek innovative solutions and are excited to challenge traditional healthcare norms.
  • Is a People Developer: You love building teams, mentoring talent, and seeing your colleagues grow. You’re not just a manager—you’re a builder and leader.
  • Is Passionate About Pediatrics: You’re driven by a genuine desire to help children and their families, and you see every patient as an opportunity to make a positive impact.
  • Thrives in Dynamic Environments: You’re comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in fast-paced settings where adaptability and quick decision-making are key.
  • Takes Ownership: You’re proactive and take pride in delivering excellence. You act with accountability and own every part of the care journey—from patient interaction to team performance.

Career Growth

  • Be a Foundational Leader: As the first RN leader of Home Heart Florida, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the direction of our services and set the standard for future growth. Your leadership will be instrumental in expanding our impact.
  • Build Your Legacy: Join us as we redefine pediatric home healthcare in Florida and beyond. With expansion on the horizon, you’ll have the opportunity to grow into senior leadership roles and develop a career path that aligns with your passion and expertise.
