The Director of Nursing (DON) oversees all clinical operations within the Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center, ensuring high standards of nursing practice, regulatory compliance, and positive patient outcomes. This role provides leadership for nursing staff, directs patient care services, and ensures that all care plans align with physicians’ orders and best practices. The DON collaborates closely with families, staff, and case managers to support quality outcomes and a positive experience for children and families.
In this role, you will:

Lead all aspects of clinical operations to ensure safe, effective, and compliant patient care.

Supervise, coach, and evaluate nursing and direct care staff, promoting professional growth and accountability.

Maintain open communication with families, staff, physicians, and case managers to ensure coordinated and responsive care.

Participate in staff assignment decisions based on patient needs and team competencies.

Investigate and resolve patient or staff concerns in collaboration with the Administrator.

Monitor and maintain documentation and staffing ratios in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Oversee orientation, in-service training, and ongoing education to ensure competency and adherence to standards.

Ensure accurate and timely census tracking, recordkeeping, and reporting.

Serve as the primary clinical contact for operational and service-related issues during PPEC operating hours.
Qualifications:

Registered Nurse (RN) with active licensure (with no disciplinary action)

BSN preferred (not required)

Current Pediatric CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

2+ years of supervision and management experience in a pediatric setting caring for medically or technology dependent minors. Experience may be in various pediatric specialty settings
