Job Overview
The Director of Nursing is responsible for management of the nursing services department and for the direction and supervision of all nursing services functions and activities. Responsible for the quality of resident care and ensures that sufficient and properly prepared personnel carry out the functions of nursing service. Is knowledgeable about issues that affect the healthcare systems and seeks opportunities for keeping staff up to date in their practices. Develops, directs implementation and ensures compliance of standard of nursing practices that promote optimum health care delivery.
To be successful, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the position.
Responsibilities:
· Makes rounds to assess the quality of resident care and staff compliance.
· Ensures the staffing of RN’s and C.N.A’s to meet the resident’s needs.
· Helps recruit new clinical staff and counsels, disciplines and terminates clinical staff as needed.
· Attends all required meetings.
· Employee performance management.
· Directs and monitors accuracy of documentation.
· Investigates complaints, grievances and allegations of neglect, abuse and mistreatment.
· Promotes team performance between staff members.
· Collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure quality care is given to all residents.
· Works in collaboration with the ADON/Infection Prevention nurse to ensure staff education, monitoring for infections, compliance with Infection control policies and procedures and high standards of cleanliness throughout the building to achieve and maintain quality of care to the residents.
· Assists with the safety plans in cooperation with other directors/managers and the Executive Director.
· Responsible for the monitoring and management of the health and safety of the employees in the clinical departments.
· Ability to manage stress, tolerance, pressure and anxiety.
· All other applicable and appropriate duties as assigned and needed for the successful operation of the ICF/IID facility, licensing regulations, State and Federal regulations, the Maine State Board of Nursing and any other laws that will impact the nursing care at Birchwood Living Center.
All members of the Nursing Department will report to the Director of Nursing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
