About GoodVets

GoodVets is an organization of modern, design-forward animal hospitals. Our hospitals deliver best-in-class pet care while empowering veterinary and operational leaders to perform at their highest potential.

Backed by leading private equity partners General Atlantic and SkyKnight Capital, GoodVets is rapidly expanding nationwide and redefining what it means to lead in veterinary medicine — combining medical excellence, results-driven operations, and a deep pride in our teams and hospitals.

About the Role

The Director of Operations role is designed for an analytically driven operations leader with advanced business training and a passion for scaling service-based organizations.

You will be directly responsible for the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of approximately 40-50 hospitals, partnering directly with a field team of multiple District Mangers to achieve performance objectives. You will work closely with the COO and operations leadership team to identify and develop hospital performance strategies and to drive consistent excellence in field-level execution, leadership development, and operational outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who has completed a structured leadership development or operations training program (e.g., DaVita Redwoods, Optum Fellows, GE OMLP, McKinsey Operations, or similar) and is ready to step into a high-impact field leadership position.

Your Impact

  • Lead through leaders: Coach and develop District Managers to drive consistent financial results, accountability, and operational engagement across their hospitals.
  • Drive performance: Ensure hospitals meet or exceed goals for revenue, EBITDA, NPS, ARPA, and retention through disciplined, data-driven operations.
  • Standardize excellence: Implement systems, tools, and processes that scale and maintain operational consistency across all hospitals.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Partner with HR, Recruiting, Finance, and Medical Operations to support hiring, staffing, and business priorities.
  • Build culture and engagement: Foster a culture of leadership, collaboration, and pride across all districts.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify and implement process and efficiency improvements to strengthen scalability and performance.

What You'll Bring

  • MBA or equivalent advanced business degree required.
  • Completion of a recognized leadership or operations development program (e.g., DaVita Redwoods, GE OMLP, Optum Fellows, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • 3–7 years of experience in healthcare, veterinary, or service-based operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through others, analyze data, and deliver measurable results.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, with comfort owning a large portfolio of distributed P&Ls.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Growth mindset and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-scaling environment.
What We Offer
  • Competitive, market-leading base salary
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Employee discounts on veterinary services and products
  • A culture centered on leadership, results, and pride in excellence
