Director of Operations

Director of Operations – Hyatt Place Melbourne Airport

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Operations to lead the daily hotel operations of Hyatt Place Melbourne Airport and support the continued success of the property. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, driving financial performance, developing team members, and maintaining Hyatt brand standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality leader with strong operational expertise, a passion for service excellence, and the ability to inspire high-performing teams.


Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest service and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with the General Manager to achieve financial, guest satisfaction, and associate engagement goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Hyatt brand standards, company policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability through effective labor management, expense control, and operational execution.
  • Supervise and mentor department leaders, providing coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the hotel.
  • Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, and service metrics to identify opportunities for operational enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Revenue Management, and other departments to maximize hotel performance.
  • Ensure the hotel maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and guest experience.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support operational decision-making.
  • Lead special projects, process improvements, and operational initiatives as assigned.


Requirements
  • Proven hotel operations management experience with a strong track record of driving guest satisfaction and financial results.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hotel department head or hotel management experience required.
  • Hyatt brand experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams in a hotel environment and developing future leaders.
  • Strong understanding of hotel financial statements, labor management, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Proficient in hotel operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.


Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hotel department head or hotel management experience required.
  • Hyatt brand experience preferred; experience with other major hotel brands such as Marriott, Hilton, or IHG is also acceptable
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive operational excellence, and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and effectively manage multiple priorities.
