Who We Are

Old Dominion has been serving our clients with compassion and excellence for more than thirty years. Headquartered in Northern Virginia with clients across the country, we're a full-service firm that strives to give our clients small-firm attention. Family, health, and money are the fundamental pillars of our clients’ lives, and we are proud to play a guiding role in all three.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking to hire a Director of People. This is a part-time role, but we’re specifically looking for a high-energy individual who can make a meaningful, full-time impact. A good candidate might be someone who has taken time off from their career or is looking to reduce their hours to focus on family and still wants to contribute meaningfully to a growing team.

This person should thrive in high-trust roles and enjoy helping teams succeed. Ideally, they have experience in talent or people operations (even better if within professional services or advisory firms). Comfort in dynamic, growth-focused settings is essential. They would be a strong communicator and passionate about developing others.

This role is focused on strengthening accountability, development, and day‑to‑day support for our staff, so they can stay focused, energized, and consistent in the work they do for our clients. Ideally this person becomes a future member of our executive team, so we are very focused on selecting someone who takes a high degree of pride in their work and wants to be with us long-term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Team Accountability: Encourage ownership, high standards, and trust while working alongside leadership to boost engagement and growth.
  • Lead Hiring & Talent Development: Oversee recruiting, design onboarding programs, identify growth opportunities, coach team members, and foster advancement.
  • Drive Performance Management: Set clear goals, implement regular feedback, and establish recognition programs to inspire excellence.
  • Support Client Experience: Partner with our staff to ensure our people strategy enhances relationships and client outcomes.

The Opportunity

This is a flexible leadership role with both remote and in-person options, offering competitive, fractional compensation. You’ll help shape our firm’s culture, drive team success, and contribute to meaningful, high-impact work within a supportive environment.

Why This Role Exists

As we grow, we remain committed to high standards and valuing every team member’s contribution. At Old Dominion, we believe that successful advisory firms specialize and put people first.
