Position Summary
The Director provides overall leadership, oversight, and day-to-day management of the Center. This role ensures a safe, healthy, developmentally and culturally responsive learning environment for all children.
The Director leads staff, oversees curriculum implementation, ensures compliance with all licensing and CSPP requirements, manages contracts and reporting, and fosters strong relationships with families, the Board of Directors, and the broader community.
This is a hands-on leadership role that includes classroom engagement and direct support to staff and children as needed.
Qualifications Required:
● Child Development Program Director Permit (CTC), or clear pathway to obtaining it
● Minimum 4 years of management experience in a licensed childcare setting ● Meet Title 5 and Title 22 requirements as Site Director
● 3 units in administration and 3 units in infant/toddler care ● CPR and First Aid Certification
Preferred:
● Bilingual English/Spanish
Skills & Competencies:
● Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills ● Excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities
● Organizational and project management expertise
● Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
● Comfort working collaboratively with a nonprofit Board
● Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft
Office/Outlook/SharePoint
● High attention to detail and regulatory compliance
● Professionalism with families, staff, vendors, donors, and community partners ● Adaptability in a dynamic environment
Physical Requirements:
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may require the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; use hands to handle, feel, and operate office or classroom equipment; communicate verbally and in writing; lift up to 25 pounds, and hear to effectively interact with children, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
1. Program Leadership & Curriculum Development
● Guide development and implementation of developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum
● Support teachers in assessment tools (ASQ, ASQ-SE, DRDP, CLASS, CLASS Environment)
● Provide classroom support and direct care as needed
2. Staff Leadership & Development
● Supervise teaching staff and conduct annual evaluations
● Hold regular staff meetings
● Provide ongoing professional development
● Administer the ECEPTS apprenticeship program in partnership with Community
Action Marin
● Supervise SGCC Administrative Coordinator, Financial Coordinator, and Food
Services Coordinator
3. Licensing & Regulatory Compliance
● Ensure compliance with Title 5, Title 22, Education Code, CSPP requirements, and all applicable regulations
● Maintain accurate personnel and student records
● Oversee required health, safety, and compliance trainings
4. Family Engagement & Communication
● Foster open, positive communication with families
● Support annual family conferences
● Provide resources and referrals to families
● Communicate policies, updates, and program information through newsletters
and meetings
5. Administrative & Fiscal Oversight
● Partner with Financial Coordinator and Board Finance Committee on annual budget preparation
● Administer CSPP contract and related grants and collaborate with Lagunitas Community School who holds the contract
● Oversee CDE Contract Monitoring Reviews and Program Self-Evaluations ● Prepare required monthly, quarterly, interim, and final reports
● Monitor family eligibility and certification for subsidized care
● Maintain operational systems (Hubbe, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
● Prepare annual calendar
6. Community Relations
● Maintain positive relationships with agencies, donors, and community partners ● Participate in Marin County Child Development Contractor’s Collaborative (MCDCC)
● Engage with Marin Quality Counts QRIS
● Conduct tours and welcome visitors
7. Governance & Board Relations
● Attend monthly Board meetings and committee meetings ● Meet weekly with Board President (or designee)
● Maintain shared calendar for scheduling and transparency ● Ensure timely communication and report submission
