Director of Public Relations & Marketing (Internal candidates only)

General Function

This position is an internal recruitment. You must be a current BCC employee to be considered.

The Director of Public Relations & Marketing manages all marketing and external public relations of the College, including managing the College’s website. The Director participates with other management staff in developing strategies, plans, and programs to maximize outcomes for the College and to enhance the College’s reputation, recognition, and image, in support of its strategic objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement a strategic public relations and marketing agenda.
  • Lead marketing efforts in campus-wide enrollment campaigns.
  • Maintain administrative systems and organization of department and its resources, including inventory, media clip program, expenses, invoices, bids, PO’s, and files.
  • Manage departmental budget and spending.
  • Track progress of marketing campaigns.
  • Serve as a designated spokesperson for the College.
  • Support content creation efforts for BCC digital properties – website, social media channels, email.
  • Maintain current knowledge of educational advertising trends.
  • Media relations and crisis communications.
  • Proactively and positively represent the College.
  • Support a cohesive atmosphere to coordinate a consistent corporate identity.
  • Advise, coordinate, and assist in developing and producing internal and external communications.
  • Foster media relations to generate College exposure.
  • Marketing campaign coordination with Foundation, Athletics, and OWA.
  • Author and publicize press, advertising, and promotional products.
  • Oversee the creation of traditional and electronic communication of all types (ex. social media, broadcast, print, billboard, and traditional forms of marketing/advertising)
  • Manage College website construction and growth. Serve as point for Website design relative to content and consistency.
  • Provide graphic and design support to the Office of the President through Power Points, agenda creation, invitations, and messaging.
  • Develop and implement internal procedures to expedite and control the flow of marketing work and project completion.
  • Manage and update phone (VOIP) messages.
  • Support institutional leadership in engaging campus and community communication.
  • Support College student success agenda.
  • Support and provide detailed information for SACSCOC.
  • Lead team to creatively internally advertise the SACSCOC QEP.
  • Manage confidential information.
  • Oversee Annual Report for President’s Office.
  • Oversee Strategic Vision documents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university,
  • Five years in marketing, PR, media relations, communications or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Flexible, patient, hard worker, organized, and ability to multi-task
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of website design and construction

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, public relations or communications
  • Experience in Higher Ed Marketing
